Asking about films that are in the box office or now showing:

• What’s playing at the cinema? What’s playing at the movies?
• What’s on at the movies? What’s on at the cinema?

Various expressions (idioms) for saying ‘I want to see a movie‘:

• I would like to see a movie. 
• To be in the mood to see a movie, thriller, etc.
• I wouldn’t mind seeing a movie.
• I could go for a movie.
• What film do you fancy seeing?
• Do you want to catch a movie?
• I feel like seeing a movie.
• I feel like a movie.

• An actor plays a part of a character
